Now with that I'm wondering if we could potentially get ports of the Silent Hill games aswell. Its actually nice that we have the choice to play both original and remake of MGS3 for millions in developing countries, and a camera in a pill could soon end uncomfortable endoscopic procedures for patients. Silent Hill 2: Using the Enhanced Edition on PC Silent Hill 3: Emulation through PCSX2. Silent Hill: Homecoming is the 1st Silent Hill game on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Silent Hill 1: Emulation through Beetle HW/RetroArch. I'm someone that goes through every mainline game in a series so trying to play these games is not as easy as some other Survival Horror franchisesĪnyway recently Konami announced a Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake and with that also announced that Metal Gear Solid 1,2,3 would be getting ports to modern consoles. Enter the next chapter of Silent Hill as you delve deeper in the tormented history of the town and learn of the evil that surrounds Toluca Lake. Downpour is just trapped completely.Okay so I've wanted to play the Silent Hill games legit for years now. Homecoming technically is on PC as well but I've heard it's not a great version. Playing it on GOG, nothing noticeably new was added to this port, in fact it seems like it is the same port as the one released. On October 2nd without any major announcement, Silent Hill 4: The Room was dropped on GOG (sometimes referred to as Galaxy of Games or Good Old Games) for ten dollars. You can play them all on Xbox but since you don't have one, they're trapped on PS3. The Silent Hill 4: The Room PC port is now on GOG. This game is not yet available on Steam Coming soon. Origins is the only one I actively DISLIKE. Though there's also good stuff in there too. If you didn't want to see everything, you can skip them. So I guess Wii emulation? You may have to do some fiddling to get the audio meant to come out of the wiimote working.Īs for the other ones, Origins, Homecoming, and Downpour. I prefer the PS2 version for lack of waggle but it's rarer and more expensive (and technically inferior). The PS2 version doesn't emulate well at all and the Wii version required you to be able to set up motion control stuff. The less spoiled about it the better but it's a fantastic different take on Silent Hill as a series. Shattered Memories is absolutely worth playing after 1-4. I know there was a recent release on GOG, no idea if it's any good, but PS2 emulation is fine. A lot of interesting ideas that are worth seeing. It's not as good as 1-3 but it's still part of the original run and it was their attempt to be weird and experimental. It might not hit everything it tried to do but has a lot of good ideas on display (Even if stuff like lackluster monster designs kinda hurt it).Ĭlick to shrink.SH4 is worth playing. It's not a perfect game but I consider it the most ambitious out of the western titles barring Shattered Memories. They're moreso there if you want more Silent HIll than having any really interesting story to experience IMO.ĭownpour on the other hand I think is well worth checking out (But sadly, unless you have an Xbox that's basically out of hand unless you get into PS3 Emulation). Homecoming & Origins aren't bad either but more run-of-the-mill. Thankfully that one is on GoG and easy to get a hold of and play.Īfter that, I definitely recommend Shattered Memories (Any Version as it's mostly the same game, just Wii & PS2 have better graphics than PSP and Wii has the Waggle). If you play the first 3 and want more then you'll definitely be recommended SH4 (I haven't played that but 1-4 seem to be what people consider a packaged deal of what needs to be played).
